Our geeky Christmas present ideas

Christmas is ahead and for you, who are celebrating the birth of baby Jesus, we’ve made a list of cool present ideas. If you don’t celebrate Christmas, the products mentioned in this article can also be given to someone you like who celebrates his/her birthday or any other special event in their life! To each specific product there’ll be a link where to buy, these links were chosen by us, none of the links was placed by a company or a webshop. If you find the product cheaper, feel free to leave a link in the comments!

A small lego set

There is a lego game for which you can buy expansion packs. These packs come with figurines, vehicles or some other small things to build and a new game level. If you have someone who likes the game, which I haven’t played, but it looks like a sequel to the lego movie, go ahead and buy them one of the packs!

If you have someone who is totally into a TV series or movie and collects about everything that is available that just slightly relates to the movie or series, this might be for him or her as well! There are small sets of lego figurines and bricks which reassemble characters and small scenes or objects from our favourite movies and TV series! I know that there are larger sets, like Star Wars themed sets or the Simpsons playset, but these cost a lot. But these small sets are cheaper to buy and they are easier to collect.

There are even more of these packs! Other ones are: Scooby Doo, Adventure Time, Portal and many more. If you’re interested in buying one of them, I found them at amazon.

Something with their favourite comic strip on

As you might have read, I’m a fan of some short comic strips, and maybe you have a friend who is a fan of a particular comic strip as well. So get that special friend of yours a mug, a mousepad or a shirt with his favourite comic strip on it.

A lot of these shorter comic strips also have calendars, where you get a new comic each day! For example this one:

You can find this particular calendar here.

Creative and funny books

If your special someone or a good friend of yours is more into reading, you can get him a funny and interesting book. These books are cheap and they can entertain somebody for a few hours.

There are a lot of such books around, here are some that I found and which sound funny. I’m totally going to put these on my wishlist!

xkcd, volume 0 – a popular series of short, scientific, comic strips
thing explainer – complicated stuff in simple words
cooking for geeks – asks questions and explains why stuff is done the way we are used to do it. Of course most of it is kitchen related.
what if? – serious scientific answers to absurd hypothetical questions.

Of course these is just a tiny selection of the books available. Don’t forget: This article should give you some ideas, it’s up to you to find the perfect gift for your friend! However, if you have any good suggestions, feel free to let us know in the comments! Your idea might save someone, who is desperately looking for the perfect gift!

Name a star

Yes, you can name a star online. You get a certificate and, depending on the package you choose, some other stuff with your own star. I think this is a pretty cool idea, it’s not even too expensive!

Fan related stuff

There is a lot of merchandising around for almost every movie, series, game, book, etc. For example there are the bobbleheads from Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. You can buy them in the bethesda online store and they look fantastic!

You can find these particular collectibles here. But like I said, there are collectibles for almost all games, series, movies and so on.

Tech gadgets

If your friend is into tech, you could also buy some cool gadgets like a VR Headset for Smartphones, which is cheap but works great.

What might also be a cool idea is something unusual, like unusual wall clocks. There is a large range of them, but the first ones that come in my mind are word clocks, binary clocks and clocks with nixie tubes. There are also some nice watches.

As you can see, clocks and watches come in all sizes and shapes, and some of them are cheap while others are expensive, so there should be one for almost everyone.

Nixie tube clock, binary clock, word clock.

When it comes to watches you could buy a regular one, a smartwatch or one of these custom made watches, like this one:

This particular kit is available here, but there are a lot of models available, so take a look around!

Movie/Series collector’s editions

Your friend might be a huge fan of star wars, doctor who, the simpsons, lord of the rings or any other movie or tv series. You could buy her or him a boxed set of DVDs or BluRay disks. You can find most of them on amazon or on ebay.

Hopefully I could give you some ideas on what you can gift to somebody! All that’s left to say now is: Wether or not you are celebrating Christmas, I wish you a happy 2016, and happy holidays!
